
This week, the kid lit community mourns the loss of Floyd Cooper (January 8, 1956-July 15, 2021) who passed away at the age of 64 last weekend. Over the years, Floyd Cooper has been honored with 4 Coretta Scott King Honors and 10 American Library Association Notable Awards. He is known for vivid artwork that brings Black history to life and celebrates everyday occurrences of Black joy.
